ASOS is a fast-growing online fashion retailer with a target audience of fashionable 20-something consumers. Launched in the UK but now available globally, the brand is known for the extent of its range and its creative designs. It sells more than 85,000 branded and own-label products – womenswear, menswear, shoes, accessories, beauty and jewellery – and its own-label ASOS Curve, Maternity, Tall and Petite ranges. In 2017, ASOS reported a 34 percent increase in retail sales. It has 15.4 million active customers and 20.1 million followers on its social media platforms. The brand attributes its recent success to its extensive use of Instagram Stories; its number of Instagram followers doubled in the six months to April 2018 alone. ASOS has been praised for using un-retouched images and plus-size models. It is also considered one of the most desirable companies to work for in the UK, and is looking to hire more than 1,000 employees this year. ASOS ships to more than 140 countries worldwide and focuses on improving the shopping experience; its mobile app uses artificial intelligence to learn from each transaction, then adapts and improves the shopping journey for the next person. It also offers visual search in some markets.
