Castrol is a manufacturer and distributor of premium lubricating oils, greases and related products and services. Consumers know it primarily as an automotive engine oil brand, but it also provides industrial products and serves the marine and aviation industries. Castrol has had a close relationship with motorsports for over 100 years, and in 2017 the brand announced a return to Formula 1, through a new partnership with Renault Sport. Castrol-sponsored motorsport teams and their drivers have broken the land speed record more than 20 times. Castrol’s tagline is: “Castrol, it's more than just oil. It's liquid engineering.” In May this year, Castrol announced that its Braycote product would play a critical role in NASA’s interplanetary mission to Mars, providing lubrication to a range of the scientific instruments on its Insight lander. Castrol operates directly in over 46 countries, and through third-party distributors in 70-plus other markets.
