Blue Bird is a high-end taxi business that has a fleet of 23,000 vehicles operating from 61 depots around the country, from Jakarta and Bandung to Bali, Lombok and Palembang. It was the first Indonesian taxi company to introduce meters, radio communications for drivers, and air-conditioned vehicles, and its premium service has helped it build relationships with large companies as their official transport partner. The taxi industry has come under pressure from app-based driver services such as Uber and Go-Jek and in May 2016, Blue Bird announced a partnership agreement with Go-Jek through which consumers will be able to order a Blue Bird ride through the Go-Jek app. The brand has also revamped its own app with new features, has added in-taxi entertainment for passengers, and has added the Honda Mobilio people carrier to its fleet.
The company has been able to reduce tariffs due to falling fuel prices, and saw profits rise by more than 12 percent in 2015. Blue Bird has been listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since 2014.
