BrandZ™ stock portfolios outperform MSCI Index
Even in stressful times, valuable brands deliver superior returns
The BrandZ™ China Top 100 Portfolio, which includes all the brands in the China Top 100 ranking, increased 145.3 percent between July 2010 and May 2020, over three times the rate of the MSCI China Index, which increased only 40.4 percent.
During the same period, the BrandZ™ China Top Brands by Brand Contribution Portfolio increased 262.2 percent, more than five times the rate of the MSCI. The Brand Contribution Portfolio includes the brands in the BrandZ™ China Top 100 with the highest scores in Brand Contribution, a BrandZ™ measurement of brand strength.
As the results illustrate, high-value brands are not immune to market fluctuations, but they rebound faster from the inevitable declines and deliver superior shareholder returns.
For example, $100 invested in the MSCI China in 2010 would be worth only around $140 today. That $100 invested in the BrandZ™ China Top 100 would be worth $245, and it would be worth around $362 invested in the BrandZ™ Brand Contribution Portfolio.
