Crédit Agricole is one of the largest banks in France, and, due to its historic support for the agricultural sector, is sometimes referred to as the Green Bank. It provides consumer and business banking and insurance, and launched Eko, a 100-percent mobile-based banking service, in 2017. Its advertising states that it is “a whole bank for you” (toute une banque pour vous). The past few years have been strong for Crédit Agricole, with the brand posting an 8.9 percent rise in net profit and making significant expansion moves across Europe in 2018. Crédit Agricole Group formalized its new brand purpose in 2019—“acting every day in the interests of our customers and society”—continuing its focus on universal local banking and identifying three core pillars: relationships, responsibility, and social commitment. The brand has also formed a climate strategy to drive growth by 2021 and its ambition is to “become the leading European player in responsible investment.” The group also aims to be the preferred financial services employer in France and one of the top five in Europe.
