DPD is an international parcel delivery network with 6,500 pickup points across Germany and over 42,000 in 35 European countries. There are now 11,000 DPD Germany delivery drivers on the road each day, delivering 375 million parcels a year. The brand has relaunched its dpd.de website to make it more intuitive; a single sign-in for dispatch, receipt, returns and tracking is designed to make using DPD easier for companies and individual consumers. DPD has launched a Europe-wide brand campaign with a social media focus, mainly targeting online shoppers with funny videos that see customers receiving parcels and having an unexpected “adventure” as a result of not using DPD’s digital services. The brand works to align itself with environmental initiatives. In the past year, DPD used carbon offsetting schemes to offset almost 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, and the business is working closely with food recycling organization SIRPLUS to ship goods from the SIRPLUS online store at cost price.
