Garnier is a global hair care and skin care brand that began with a single product—a plant-based hair lotion—and now has a range of sub-brands across multiple categories. Its hero products include Fructis, Ambre Solaire and Nutrisse. In its communications, Garnier highlights its century-long heritage and use of natural ingredients, and is now connecting this to its sustainability initiatives. In mid 2018, Garnier became the first mass-market skin care brand to achieve Cradle-to-Cradle Certified Silver recognition for sustainability for five of the products in its SkinActive line. The brand is also seeing leadership moves: in June 2019, Delphine Viguier-Hovasse was named as the new International Head of L’Oréal Paris, having previously served as the Garnier’s Global Brand President. “She strongly led the repositioning of Garnier to become a global key leader in the ‘natural’ market, with a healthy acceleration since mid 2018 of Garnier’s business across zones and categories,” said a statement from L’Oréal Paris. Viguier-Hovasse commented: “As the first woman in charge of L’Oréal Paris globally, I’m extremely enthusiastic about the idea of writing the next chapters in the history of this iconic brand.”
