Garuda Indonesia celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. Garuda flies more than 90 domestic and international routes, and carries around 35 million passengers a year and, through the SkyTeam alliance offers connections to over 1,074 destinations in 177 countries. New routes launched in the past year include Singapore to Tanjung Pandan (Belitong), Jakarta to London and London to Denpasar (Bali). Garuda has also launched “Explore Business Class” on selected routes, which it says provides a premium experience at an economical price. To increase loyalty, Garuda held an event called “Sapa Pelanggan” (“Who is the customer?) at Terminal 3 Soekarno Hatta, and in order to improve service, ran the “CEO on board” program, to hear from passengers about their hopes and preferences. Garuda’s in-flight experience draws on the brand’s Indonesian heritage, and a new range of inflight meals reflects the culinary diversity of the archipelago. Advertising includes the “Bring More Home” campaign to promote Garuda’s baggage allowance.
