Jaguar is a quintessentially British car, used by several British prime ministers as well as members of the royal family. That tradition continued with Prince Harry driving his wife Meghan Markle in an all-electric Jaguar E-Type concept car after their wedding. These vehicles are now in production and are expected to go on sale in the coming year. The electric Jaguar I-PACE has won a string of industry awards, including World Car of 2019 and European Car of the Year. Other innovations include the development by parent company Jaguar Land Rover of a “smart wallet”, which will report data from users’ cars on congestion and driving conditions in return for rewards in the form of IOTA cryptocurrency credits. These can be used to pay for tolls, parking, or electric charging. The technology is being fitted to Jaguar F-PACE and Range Rover Velar vehicles. Jaguar Land Rover made the biggest loss in its history in 2018, sinking £3.6 billion into the red due to a weak Chinese market and falling sales of diesel vehicles.
