Johnnie Walker has become one of the best-known whisky brands in the world. The brand is 200 years old, but in a demonstration of its ability to keep pace with today’s consumers, Johnnie Walker has worked with HBO on a limited-edition product linked to the hit TV series Game of Thrones. The frozen single-malt scotch product, inspired by the show’s White Walkers, was launched to coincide with the programme’s final season. Building on the brand’s Scottish heritage, parent company Diageo has announced plans to create a Johnnie Walker whisky experience in the former House of Fraser building in Princes Street, Edinburgh. The “immersive experience” will include an events space for staging music, theatre and community events, a bar academy, and retail space at street level. Johnnie Walker is sold in around 200 countries with the tagline “Keep Walking” and the iconic striding man.
