Labatt Blue is a pilsner lager beer brand originally brewed by Labatt Breweries of Canada. Like all beer brands, Labatt has had a tough history in Ontario, which instituted prohibition in 1901. Still permitted to sell beer in the United States, Labatt’s was dealt another blow then that country adopted prohibition in 1919. By the time the Ontario was lifted, Labatt was the only remaining brewery in the province with its original management. Since then, the brand has grown into one of Canada’s favorite beers. Today, Labatt brews the equivalent of more than 350 million bottles of beer, most of which is drunk in Canada. Canadians know the brand as an enthusiastic sponsor of hockey, baseball, and Canadian football league teams.
