Legal & General provides a range of financial services, including mortgages, insurance, investments, pensions, life cover and retirement. It describes itself as Europe’s largest institutional fund manager, as well as the leading UK defined-benefits pension fund manager. In 2017, Legal and General launched a campaign to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace entitled “Not a Red Card Offence”, which used sports stars to compare sporting performance with performance in the workplace. The campaign, timed to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week, encourages a more open discussion of mental health, given its effect on workplace absenteeism. Celebrities included rugby referee Nigel Owens, and Olympic gold medal-winning hockey players Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh.
