Best known to consumers as a premium car tire brand, Michelin also produces tires for trucks, agricultural vehicles and planes. It positions itself as an innovator, focused on safety, reliability and service. Michelin’s new self-regenerating tread design, called Regenion, won the industry category of the 2018 European Inventor Awards, and the company has developed a new flexible wheel-tire combination, Acorus, to improve comfort by absorbing the impact of potholes. Other recent innovations include the Road 5, the first motorbike tire to use 3D metal printing technology to extend the life of a tire, and the RoadConnect app, developed for truck drivers to help them get real-time traffic information, organize their journeys, and contact other drivers near them.
