Nando’s is a global fast food restaurant specializing in Portuguese-style chicken served with South African art and style. It began in 1987 when Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin purchased a restaurant named Chickenland and renamed it after Duarte’s oldest son Nando. Expanding under the slogan “have fun and then make money”, they eventually grew the chain into an international icon. Nando’s today offers a highly distinctive dining experience highlighted by live music, PERi-PERi sauces, and South African art and culture (its quirky font is inspired by the South African tradition of sign writing). Nando’s also sells a range of products through traditional and online retail.
