The modern form of NTT was born following the privatization of state-owned Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp in 1985. Today, NTT and its subsidiaries (East Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp, West Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp, NTT Communications, NTT Data, NTT Docomo) have 303,350 employees and total assets of about ¥22.3 trillion.
