Rona is a major home improvement chain with a large focus on Quebec. It operates multiple store formats that include the warehouse-style Réno-Dépôt and Rona Home & Garden. The brand traces its roots to 1939 when a number of hardware stores came together in an alliance known as Les Marchands en Quincaillerie. The grouping was rebranded as RO-NA, a reference to the first names of two of the founding members. Today, Rona focuses both the DIY and contractor segments with a large variety of tools, hardware, building supplies, and so on. In 2016, Rona was purchased by American chain Lowe’s, which has since announced it would rebrand a number of stores under the Lowe’s name. Among its many initiatives to support local communities, Rona has been donating supplies to Habitat for Humanity since 2007.
