ScottishPower is an energy provider which supplies gas and electricity to over 5 million households and businesses across the UK. The business has a major environmental focus, having pledged to invest £5.2 billion over the next four years to more than double its renewable capacity. In late 2018, Scottish Power has become the first major UK energy supplier to completely drop fossil fuels in favour of wind power, after selling off its remaining gas and hydro stations. ScottishPower has also pledged to turn Glasgow, the city where it was founded, into the UK’s first zero-carbon city, with a mass rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging points. The business is working with Glasgow City Council to make the city’s heating and transport all carbon neutral. ScottishPower was appointed by the regulator to take on customers of Extra Energy, which collapsed in late 2018.
